IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) IDE is the successor of ST506. Typically the older/ancient ST506 had most of their logic on the extension board (host adapter). IDE/ATA integrated most of the logic on the hard disks logic-board. The first ATA host adapters were very basic (in comparison to the quite complex host adapters used today). Nowadays IDE is basically a synonym for ATA. Comments? Let us know! ATAREF/2 (C) 2007-2009 WTY Soft. All rights reserved (legal). |
