Since the 137GB (1GB = 1E09 bytes) supported by LBA28 was not enough LBA48 was introduced. LBA48 allows 2^48 (281474976710656) sectors to be addressed. 2^48 * 512 (sector size) = 144PB (1PB = 1E06 GB). For now this considered a theoretical limit.
