A logical sector is the smallest addressable unit on a drive. It is translated from the physical sector which is the sector actually read from the storage surface. Normally 1-n logical sectors per physical sector, although a logical sector in theory could also exists out of several physical sectors. The translation from physical to logic sectors is transparent to end user software.
