Since there is a large difference between the length of the inner and outer track on a hard disk a technique called ZBR is used. ZBR typically creates multiple zones containing a equal number of sectors per track. In an optimized version as much sectors which fit will be put on a track. This can be compared with an extreme large number of zones.
