DMA (Direct Memory Access) General DMA (Direct Memory Access) is the equivalent of PIO. It reduces the CPU load by using a memory controller to perform data transfers directly from the host adapter to system memory. Historically single-word DMA was by-passed by multi-word DMA which was by-passed by ultra DMA UDMA. Comments? Let us know! ATAREF/2 (C) 2007-2009 WTY Soft. All rights reserved (legal). |
