LBA (Logical Block Addressing)

LBA is the alternative for CHS. LBA addressing uses logical sector number to access a sector. Nowadays LBA is the standard addressing method for all drives and often used by the BIOS by default. LBA comes in two flavours LBA28 and LBA48. See also addressing methods.
